From Data to Savings: Download the Free OEE Guide

Want to measure machine efficiency more accurately, detect losses faster, and make decisions based on data, not guesswork?

Download the expert OEE guide e-book from explitia and learn how to calculate production efficiency, analyze downtime, reduce manual reporting, and estimate the costs of digitizing this area.

Production Status Visualization - OEE explitia

Digitizing production does not have to start with a large investment. In many plants, the first step is to organize machine data: information on operation, downtime, the number of units produced, quality, and plan completion.

In this e-book, we show how to handle this area in a practical way: from basic machine monitoring and OEE calculation to automatic reporting and data integration with ERP, MES, or SCADA systems.

It is for people who want to better understand where production loses time, money, and capacity.

You will:

  • learn how to measure availability, performance, and quality
  • see where production losses most often occur
  • get ROI examples from efficiency monitoring system deployments

What will you gain after reading the guide?

  1. You will understand how to calculate OEE
You will learn the three main components: availability, performance, and quality.
  2. You will identify sources of loss
You will learn how to analyze downtime, micro-stoppages, slower machine operation, and quality defects.
  3. You will assess where to start with digitization
You will see why a pilot project can reduce implementation risk and help you choose the right project scope.
  4. You will see real ROI examples
The e-book includes return-on-investment examples for systems that support efficiency monitoring and automatic reporting.
  5. You will reduce manual reporting
You will learn how production data automation can reduce errors and take repetitive work off operators’ hands.
  6. You will connect efficiency with production planning
You will learn how machine operation data can support decisions about schedules, orders, and resource use.
  7. You will make it easier to get your team on board
You will gain arguments showing that OEE monitoring is not only technology, but also a way to improve daily work.
  8. You will plan your digitization budget more accurately
You will understand which elements affect implementation costs and when the investment can pay off.

What will you find in the guide?

The e-book shows how to turn production data into specific optimization steps.

You will learn, among other things:

When does data start paying for itself? See examples

In the guide, we show examples where digitizing efficiency measurement can reduce costs and help teams respond more quickly to process deviations.

SPC instead of an additional full-time role

In a continuous production plant, an SPC system integrated with Production Portal helped the team respond to predicted deviations from the norm. Hiring an additional employee would have cost PLN 150,000 per year, while system implementation cost PLN 200,000. The investment paid for itself after 16 months.

    Less manual reporting

In another example, 50 operators spent 10 minutes per shift on paper reports, and the data was then entered into the ERP system by hand. The labor cost related to reporting was PLN 450,000 per year, while implementing an automatic system cost PLN 900,000. The investment paid for itself in two years.

OEE instead of guessing the causes of losses

In a production plant, a machine was scheduled to run for 8 hours, or 480 minutes. During that time, there were 60 minutes of downtime380 units were produced against a target of 420 units, and 10 units were defective. After calculating availability, performance, and quality, the OEE result was 77%.

With that result, the team could quickly see that the machine was not using its full capacity and point to areas for improvement: shorter downtime, a better work pace, or fewer quality defects.
