Hydra MES

Capture production data in real time

Hydra MES by MPDV gives you a real-time overview of production, including orders, machines, quantities, downtime, and quality. This allows you to identify problems faster, respond based on facts, and avoid waiting for manual reports.

At explitia, as an MPDV MES integrator, we implement Hydra X MES by connecting the system to machines, PLCs, and ERP systems.

Industry 5.0 – what is it?

Want to find out where to start? Let's talk about your production!

See how the Hydra X MES system can make it easier for you to manage production based on data, not guesswork.

What can Hydra MES do for your production?

The system organizes information scattered across machines, spreadsheets, ERP and shift reports.

You can see, among other things:

Icon illustrating predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, and machine wear assessment. What you are currently producing
An icon symbolizing a production order with an order archive and a complete history of status changes. Which order the machine is working on
WMS system for managing material and product statuses in the warehouse How many units have been produced
An icon illustrating a production order with a real-time view of the number of units, NOK, and operation status. How many units were good and defective
Easier bottleneck detection – production recording automation that makes it easier to identify downtime and bottlenecks. Whether the machine is running or not
Production Kanban reducing downtime through more efficient material replenishment. Where downtime occurs
AVEVA PI System OEE and energy monitoring What the production parameters were
An icon showing interactive operator instructions combined with knowledge tests for operators. What the KPI, OEE, quality, availability and performance are

For your team, this means less manual reporting, less time spent searching for information and more work based on shared data.

Hydra MES by MPDV - production data, machines, orders, OEE and quality in real time

Hydra X MES and MPDV Hydra

Hydra is an MES system, meaning a Manufacturing Execution System. It collects data from the shop floor, analyzes it and presents it in reports, dashboards and user views.

If you do not have the latest version of Hydra, contact us and we will help you implement Hydra X.

Who is Hydra MES for?

It will work well in your company if you want better visibility into production, faster responses to problems and less manual reporting.

The system can be implemented in stages: starting with one machine, one line or a selected module.

MES can be used in industries including:

Hydra MES modules

Monitoring production processes by manufacturing plant employees.

Machine data and production monitoring

Hydra allows you to collect data from machines, sensors and PLC controllers, including:

  • unit counter,
  • machine status,
  • current model,
  • reference,
  • order data,
  • good and defective units,
  • process parameters.

You can start with the basics, such as the number of units and machine status, and later expand the scope to include more data.

Orders from ERP to machines

The system can retrieve production orders from ERP and send them to specific machines.

The operator selects the order at the workstation, starts production and the system collects process data. After the work is completed, the information can be sent back to the ERP.

This makes it easier to check what is being produced, on which machine, in what quantity and with what quality result.

Reports, dashboards and OEE

Hydra MES presents data in reports, dashboards and visualizations. They can be displayed on production screens, TVs or user workstations.

On dashboards, you can track:

  • current production,
  • order progress,
  • machine status,
  • good and defective units,
  • KPI,
  • OEE,
  • performance,
  • availability,
  • quality.

The indicators can be calculated using formulas tailored to your plant.

Quality, traceability, SPC and maintenance

Hydra MES can support quality control by collecting process parameters such as temperatures, pressures, tightening torques, sensor data and the number of good and defective units.

The system can also provide traceability, meaning the ability to trace production. You can track data on the product, order, reference, quality parameters and process flow.

In the SPC area, Hydra helps analyze production parameters and monitor process stability. In maintenance, it supports the analysis of downtime, machine problems and data needed by the maintenance team.

A good place to start can be andon, a module for counting units and basic production control.

Does Hydra MES work without ERP?

Yes. The system can work without ERP. It can still:

ERP integration provides more options, but it is not a prerequisite for getting started.

Business benefits of Hydra MES

The system helps manage production better by providing access to data that is often missing in day-to-day work.

Key benefits:

Higher productivity
Less downtime
Fewer defects and less scrap
Better production planning
Full traceability
Faster access to data
Faster response to problems
Greater production transparency

What is needed to get started?

The starting point is access to machine data. Ideally, the machines should have PLC controllers.

If the machines are not ready for data collection, an integrator can provide technical support with sensors, PLC data, retrieving data from the controller, system logic, reports and dashboards.

Hydra MES implementation with explitia

We begin the implementation by discussing your production: machines, data, ERP, quality, downtime and reporting.

The process usually includes:

01

Pre-implementation workshop

02

Module selection

03

Integration with machines, PLC, ERP or other systems

04

Reports, dashboards and system logic

05

Testing, go-live and support

Pre-implementation workshop
We identify needs, problems and scope.

Integration with machines, PLC, ERP or other systems
We connect Hydra to data sources.

Testing, go-live and support
We test the system with your team and support it after launch.

You do not have to start with a large project. We can start with one machine, line, orders or reporting.

Hydra X MES integrations and support

Integration enables communication with ERP, PLC, sensors, CMMS and other production systems, if the technology allows it.

After implementation, support can include dedicated service and maintenance in a model tailored to your needs.

Why choose explitia as your MPDV MES integrator?

As an MPDV MES integrator, we combine expertise in IT, automation and production. We help select Hydra X MES modules, prepare machine data, connect the system to PLC, ERP and other systems, and then launch reports, dashboards and support.

You can start with the area that causes the most problems today: machine data, manual reporting, quality, downtime, traceability or ERP orders.
